another picture. cut off A arm.
That is actually the a-arm mount on the frame. Doesn't look like it hurt anything. but wasn't necessary.
shouldn't hurt, header clearance?
Not really sure. This has a 400M stock manifolds. The headers I've looked over don't seem as if they would fit, not many out there either. From what I've learned here I think the 58 steering box and column was installed. There is no clearance between the box and manifold. I may be able to slip an index card between them.
Switching to a '58-'59 box would give you a little more clearance.
Just to clarify............if I'm not mistaken, the adjusting screw on top center of the cap tells us it's the '57 box, is my understanding correct?
I agree with Rich. That's a 57 steering box.
Hmm. I was told that they put a 58 box in so they could fit the 400 in the car. When I bought the car they gave me an extra box and column a 57 they changed out. The other one is red and the one that's installed is black. I'm not really surprised I'm finding plenty things wrong. Can't win em all. I'll get a picture up for you guys to identify for me.
'58/'59 Box has three bolts holding the top cover on. '57 has four.
