A T56 is very tall transmission, I am sure major transmission tunnel surgery would be required to get one in a 57059 Ford car. Unless the Y Block in question is heavily modified, I have to think a T5 from a 5.0 FOX Mustang would be much simpler, and should hold up fine, strength-wise. Unless you really want the overdriven 5th gear, a Toploader 4 speed (or 3 speed) is a very simple swap.

T-5 WC will stand all a stock (or nearly) Y-block can give it.....
