Found this article in an old magazine I bought last week.
4,161 pounds
8.00 X 15 nylon tires
4.89:1 with overdrive @ 3.49
15.3 in the 1/4 mile
152.0 mph on the test track.
Quite an impressive e.t. for a 4,100 lbs. car and only 352 cubes.
I love this early kind of stuff.... Can you send me the article to email Mr Po ta toe?
Check it.... Real great factory F O R D Performance.. on an engine most have given up on......

I am just fascinated with Ford factory performance... no matter what era Jim..(Well not present) but historical stuff.Ford shunned and shed away from it, much more than the others.

Me too :003:. That right up was done really well and I enjoy all the tech specs they included. I sure miss those days and I'm down to minimum old parts. Still have my 427 solid lifter cam in my 390 and a couple of the dual point distributors on the shelf that I just look at to bring back memories.
Jim. forgive me.I have forgotten.. what is your Ranch powered with now?
The red car was owned by a friend Nick Smith at the time of the Hot Rod article. It has since been sold but Nick still owns these, both 352-360 cars. My father built both of their engines. Both have gone low 13s with period correct motors.
Wow, impressive. I love the Starliner.
My dad drove 6 cyl. Chevies. Can't remember ever seeing him with the hood of the car open.
Wow Jody. Like Rich said..IMPRESSIVE.... Those 60's are beautiful.

I always loved the 60's too.
Jeff, the Ranchero is stock 292 powered. The 66 pickup is a 390 with 427 factory cam, 428 CJ heads, headers, Holley etc. It's a real sleeper :003:. I had one of the single 4V factory aluminum manifolds like the one in the 60 article for years until the exhaust cross over burned through :005:
I do remember that now Jim. you showed a pic a while back of your tri-power engine on a lift..I just couldn't remember what powered your Ranch,... Thanks!
I too just picked up a intake like the one in the article... the bottom exhaust crossover is in good shape..... I want to build a engine similar to that one in the article.

A sleeper indeed. And lookin' like that it's downright sneaky! (http://57fordsforever.com/smf/Smileys/default/thumbsup.gif)
I'm guessing that some of them brand X guys got a big surprise. :003:

I like those crusty old f-100's. Gotta get me one one day. Is that San Onofre campground your at ?
There used to be a Vega Station Wagon out west that ran a 352. He worked at a Ford High Performance shop and was pissed at guys putting bow ties in Ford bodies.
He ran consistent 10.90's in Super Street. (At least he said it was a 352)

Thats north of Santa Barbara, Jalama beach.
It wasn't always crusty :003: I bought it in 1971 with 40,000 miles for $1100.
