Title: Interesting Christmas Tradition in South Louisiana
Post by: lalessi1 on 2019-12-23 08:24
Thought I'd share an event. Each Christmas people along the Mississippi river build VERY large bonfires to light the way for Papa Noel on his journey delivering toys. The logs are stacked for months in advance and there are several tens of bonfires along a several mile stretch of the levy just north of New Orleans.Over time the construction of the stacks of wood has become more elaborate and all sorts of designs are constructed just to be set on fire on Christmas Eve. Below is one of the more impressive examples of this creativity. The lighting of the bonfires, the best attended Christmas partys around here.... MERRY CHRISTMAS!
