I get a Hemmings email letter and today they spotlighted Ed "Big Daddy" Roth, very cool article but I was interested in knowing a little more... Wikipedia article said he had a '55 post Chevy with a 406 Ford engine he drove daily... Who knew! Rat Fink!!!
That's definitely a fun fact!
Someone gave me a 1969 HOT ROD magazine (10 times the size of last months issue) with a focus on Boss 9. One of the tiny little ads in the back were for Big Daddy t-shirts...$2.29!
Boss 9 ?? Refresh my memory please

About 1966 while in the military a friend & I met "Big Daddy" Ed Roth where he was air brushing(?) & selling shirts at a little outside table at a drag race near L A. Wanted him to do one of my '47 Tudor that was back home. He says OK but first he wanted to go watch somebody that was about run a funny car. I think it was Gas Ronda. Cool! We wanted to see him run too. Had to love the guy.
I think I still have that sweatshirt packed away in an old cedar chest that's half buried under a bunch of stuff.
I have a pic of that 55 somewhere...
Friends with Dennis Roth.. he looks and acts just like his Dad...... He is crazy. hahaha..... A few of my pals like Von Franco and Mark Balfe worked for Ed..... The stories they have..... boy o boy.
