Title: Anyone on the Forum know where there is a '58 being parted out?
Post by: KYBlueOval on 2020-08-26 16:39
I'm looking for some dash pieces that are unique to a '58 Ford. Since the dash is the same in all'58's, any '58 with a dash "should" have what I need. Anyone here on the Forum know where there is a '58 being parted out?
Thanks
John

Thanks Joe. I've been there..........I'd have to take out a loan to buy anything from these boys. My son lives in Ft.Worth and I get to Dallas/Ft.Worth several times a year. I went to this yard twice.........First and Last Time!. You can not go look at cars or parts by yourself. You must be escorted. No tools are allowed in the yard. You can't remove any parts......they do it. Nor can you watch as the parts are removed.
Not for me.

What parts are you looking for.

I'm looking for the Chrome Bezels with White Plastic inserts on either side of the steering column on a '58, that house the ignition, wiper, light switch etc. Don't need the switches etc., nor the backing plates. Just the chrome and plastic.
Thanks
John

John, I was at an old car salvage yard today picking up a screen for my cowl vent, and I checked..they had no '58s. Have you tried Vasholtz in Kansas? Contact info is in our salvage yard listings.

I have a pair for a 58, I think the one on the right side of the column has choke in one of the holes. And they look different from a 57 on the back side where the name plates are lite up. Since your changing to white are you changing all the knobs also.

Yes sir I'm going to the white knobs as well. And you are correct that the '58's are different from the '57's as I have learned. The plastic is held in differently and the method of lighting is also different.
I'm interested in the pair you have, I'll send you a PM.
Thanks
John

Hi KYblueoval, sorry no number, just another ebay user, it sounds like he has a yard, from Kingsburg,Ca  but mostly deal through contacting through searching on ebay, just ask a question on one of the '57 Ford parts.

See this is an old thread, but I have four 58's here (east central Minnesota) and have parted a couple more (2 dr sedan and a retractable), so I still have a lot of odds and ends from the 2 parted cars.  Not a lot for body parts as I am keeping most of those for eventual project use on the 2 or 3 cars that are repairable of the four 58 cars here.

One of the four cars here now is a rusty convertible, but is pretty stripped out at this point. Do still have some of the top frame parts, but I used some of the 58 top parts, power brakes and power steering on my 57 convertible project I am currently working on.

Also parted a 4 door 57 cop car and a 4 door Custom 300? Not a lot left from those, but some odds and ends. Also parted a 57 retractable and have some pieces from that as well. Again not a lot of body parts for 57 either, but lots of odds and ends. Still have some Y block parts, but most were sold on CL. Quite a few FE parts are still here.

Have a 59 complete convertible top frame in very good condition too. Has been inside for  better than 40 years. No other 59 parts except a running 332 FE engine that allegedly came from a 59.

Have some 61 parts as well. Some came with a 61 convertible project, but are 2 dr hardtop (boxtop, not Starliner) parts and some of them do not fit convertible. Also have a 61 rusty 4 door Galaxie that is all complete and which I will dismantle come summer.

Figured I would eventually start selling off the extra stuff on EBAY or CL again someday, but have not got around to it yet. Found that I wished I had not sold some stuff cuz I needed it later, so stopped doing that and hoarded parts instead. Also have never listed anything on boards because I would rather work on my cars than diddle around shipping stuff.

But I will eventually be selling off this hoard of parts so if there is some part you can't find, I might have it. Been to CTC in Texas a few years ago. Most of their older cars have very little left on them. Saw the Alamo and CTC on a road trip out west. My wife even trekked through the yard with me!
