seeing this terrific pic by Joe, I wonder if anybody has ever used a 57 Tbird rearend/bumper on a 57 Ford pssgr car ?
it probably would be too narrow, but could be widened with an overrider and quite possibly the Custom tail section is pretty slim to begin with. maybe it fits ? pics?

A photoshop study would help. I?ll take a look. This reminds me of the early Custom Falcon sketches by Harry Bradley. They popped up on the HAMB recently. It was mostly Mustang parts.

I'd say Ford got it right from the get go. The Fairlane just doesn't seem sporty enough to be wearing a t-bird bumper. The Lab might disagree, she seems pretty happy with that mod.

I don't have my 57 Bird any more so can't compare, how ever I do know that the axels interchange. As far as the shop dog, I have a long haired minature dachund that is by my side all the time very good help, except she has a hard time telling the difference between a 1/2 and 9/16 end wrench.

Thank you Joe ! Interestingly enough, it doesn't look all that good. It sure looks great on a T bird, making this a very light rearend, even though the 57 Bird has extended panels and those exhaust ports are quite massive looking. I agree that it doesn't quite balance on the Fairlane, because it has taller roll pans/rear panels. That's probably the reason why we have never seen this on a car before.... :003:

I personally think a stock Fairlane bumper is heavy ,clunky and awkward... and a Custom rear bumper looks much better, except they tilt downwards at the ends..... Regardless.. all 57's are beautiful.

My favorite is a 58 Fairlane bumper, similar shape, just not as tall and "clunky" looking.......

Thank you Jeff and Jay, but if I ever get rid of her, I think my wife would kill me. Also, she is not a puppy she is going to be seven years old.
As far as the bumpers go, I will keep my Pontiac rear bumpers any day of the week over the stock Fairlane bumper

A little too small for me. How about a 58 Edsel wagon rear bumper? The 58 Edsel fronts look good on 57's.

I watched that build twice. Thought it was way over played! Why swap out a chassis that have one of the best front end geometries ever built? That front end was used in NASCAR cars of every make for years. That frame doesn't come any stronger then the 57 - 59 convertible/retractable frame and then all the drama putting a FE into the thing?

I would have tucked the front bumper (stock style) in under the side of the fender (remove part of the splash pan under the fender) and moved it in closer to the grill. The rear bumper should have been swapped with a 58 Fairlane that was tucked and moved in closer.

want to second you guys. what bothers me the most about the Camaro bumper is, the straightness of that thing. it doesn't even remotely take up the curvy and flowing lines of the 57 tail. it looks just plain stuck on like an afterthought.
I personally like the 57 Custom/wgn/Rnchr rear bumper, but its just the ends that don't wrap around enough- or trather too much. they do not flow into the quarter panels. Frame swaps are in most cases about what you can charge the client. Remember, this is the same guy that tells anyone that will listen how ugly their car is and that starting at $250,000 he can fix ugly.
