Hi, ... I need to change my windshield and need to get the correct seal. I see a few options at Dennis Carpenter, but none for the Country Sedan.
B7A-6403110-A is for Fairlane 500 Convertible, Retractable, 2DR Hardtop, Town Sedan
B7A-6403110-B is for Fairlane Hardtop, Town Sedan
B7A-7003110-C is for Ranchero, Sedan Delivery, Custom, Ranch Wagon
I would assume the -C is the one I need. Can anyone confirm?
Thanx a lot in advance!
I was under the impression that there were two platforms, the Fairlane and the Custom with all wagons made on the Custom platform.
That's what I also thought. I did google a bit more and found another source which confirmed that the -C is also used for the 4-door wagons. So that is what I need.
agreed...........but in all honesty, I think any would work. Why do I say that? I bought my first windshield for my Custom 5 years before I got around to installing it. I never checked it when it arrived other than for cracks, etc. I never measured it, just assumed they sent the correct one. The paperwork was correct. ((Yes, I know)). I installed the seal and all the trim, never having an issue there. When I went to install the assembly, I discovered they had actually sent a Fairlane windshield which is 1" shorter.
My point is, we're dealing with about 13-14 feet of flexible rubber, and an inch or two probably can be stretched or compressed either way. If I ever have to replace mine, which I probably will because my replacement windshield has tons of pits and chips after just 4 years, I may even consider ordering a Fairlane seal so it fits tighter on the taller Custom windshield. I AM NOT SUGGESTING YOU DO THAT, I'm just thinking out loud here.
Speaking of replacing windshields, does the green tint shield some of the UV rays? Does any glass shield more than the clear?
That's something I'm sure could be answered by any glass company. Don't call tomorrow though.
BTW, I'm sure nobody who has ever looked at my car has noticed that, although my side and back glass is grey tint, my windshield is green tint.
Thanx for all replies. Very much appreciated.
