I'm ready to mount the body on the frame and need some advice regarding the correct order of assembly of the body mount parts. The "instructions" from Concourse are in photo #3 A photo from their catalog is in photo #2.
In photo #1 you'll see the body mount parts that I need some help with.
#1 Bottom Stamped Washer has a caged nut
#2 A rubber biscuit that #1 stamped washer fits into. Parts 1&2 go on the bottom of the frame rail mount
#3 Another rubber biscuit that goes on top of the frame rail mount
#4 A Stamped Washer that fits into the top biscuit
#5 Per the Concourse Instruction Diagram.......A Special Washer
So here is my question..........I understand where #'s 1,2,&3 go. #1&2 on the bottom of the frame rail mount, #3 on top of the frame rail mount. Where does #4 go? I read the diagram to say #4 goes on the floorboard. That can't be right......Can it?
Looks to me that #4 should fit into #3 on top of the frame rail mount. When it is done in that order the stamped metal washer #4 will be in direct , metal to metal contact, with the body. Is that correct?
The bolt and the six sided washer go through the hole in the body and into the internal / external threaded nut that holds the biscuits and body together.
Now, back to the "Special Washer" as shown in the drawing. Do you use that in place of #4 or in addition to #4? And what is its purpose? I'm at a loss as to why it is there?
Please educate me and tell how these body mount parts go together.
The Forum always comes through, and I hope and trust it will once again. Thanks in advance to all that reply.

I used #5 in conjunction with #4. I'll have to take the insulation off mine to see how I assembled the rest of them. I hope I did it right! Now I'm second guessing myself
John, I believe all of your conclusions are correct so far.
#5 is a shim washer and it goes below rubber#3. #5 directly touches metal to metal on the frame, pronges up.
as far as I remember these are mostly used on wagons and Rancheros.
they are in the rear part of the chassis, i believe just fore and aft the rear axle kickup, or maybe all to the front of the rear kickup. My Del Rio had 4 bodymounts with these shims. they may also get stacked 2 or so. the pronges will lock into the next one.
John, your diagram shows the special washers #5 used on the inner body mounts ( inbetween the frame rails). that makes sense.
The Ford 'interloc' frame building method puts the inner framerail portions INSIDE the outer main frame rails to form a boxed section, so that means the top surface is just a tad lower in these areas ( thickness of outer frame sheetmetal), so this makes sense to use those #5 shims to make up for that.

I can't remember either, John, but honestly, what the diagrams show makes sense to me. Look at illustrations B, C, and D. The only thing between the frame and the body is the single rubber item. "A" would be the same way as those 3 if you go by the diagram, so I would have to assume if that's the diagram I used for assembly, I probably wouldn't have questioned it.
All this is assuming I'm understanding your question correctly, and realizing the Ranchero may be different than my Custom.
Somewhere I found a torque spec on for the body mounts...only 18-20 ft lbs.

DJ......... I think you nailed it regarding the purpose of the "Special Washers" Your explanation makes sense. I believe that the special washer is just dropped onto the top of the assembled body mount. The tabs hold it in place. The tabs are too wide to go through the mounting hole in the floorboard.
I'm still perplexed regarding the metal to metal contact of the top stamped washer(or the special washer) and the body. I assumed (dangerous word), there would be rubber touching the body. It appears that is not the case.
Thanks to all that replied. I really appreciate it and will be getting the body on the frame once a friend, that will help me, gets back from a trip .

John, I dug through my files of 57DR disassembly.
you are correct, the shim washers are ON TOP of the inner assembled body mounts.
I have one pic showing the shim washer in the correct inner position on the frame ( on top of assembled body mount donut).
another pic shows such a shim washer sticking to the floorboards of lifted body. although in an 'inappropriate' location.
I take it that my front body mounts were reshimmed due to an offset front collison repair ( twisted frame on pssgr side).
Please see pics for info.
wow this is a never ending story.
Come to think of it. our Custom wgn and Ranchero frames do not have those inner body mounts to the front. your diagram must be Fairlane or Sunliner specific.
so - ok. the rear inner body mounts take a shim.
it appears that the shim on one of my front bodymounts ( the one sticking to the floorboards) is correct. On my photos, it clearly shows that these particular (outer frame) brackets are lower than the rest.
DJ, Thanks for digging around and finding the photos. My Ranchero frame has the exact same mounting points as in the diagram. Two inner mounts on each side. The left inner front mount, aligns with a depression/hole in the driver side floor pan hole. That hole is approximately 13" inches inward from the kick panel area. The left inner rear mount is just forward of the left inner fender and approximately 21 1/2" from the center line of the drive shaft tunnel.
This afternoon I spoke with Jerry Miller Restorations and they confirmed that the correct body mount hardware assembly is ......From the bottom.........Stamped washer with caged nut, plus a rubber donut on the bottom of the frame body mount. On the top of the frame body mount is another rubber donut and a stamped washer with a serrated hole in the center. There is a nut with both internal/external threads that holds the two washers and two donuts together.
The body rests on the top of the top stamped washer. From inside the car, the bolt and the six sided curved washer is threaded into the nut that is threaded both internal and external, which has been threaded into the caged nut, which holds the two washers and the two donuts together on the frame mount. The "Special Washers" are used as shims in the four locations as indicated on the drawing. They are the same thickness as the frame rail steel. Thus I believe that DJ is correct as to why they are there.
I've tried to envision how the frame looked as it came down the assembly line to meet the body. Seems to me the stamped washers and donuts would have been installed on the frame already, and depending on the body style, the Special washers would have been placed on top of certain stamped washer just prior to the body drop. Just a guess.
Thanks to all that replied. Without question this is the Best Forum on the internet!

It appears that I assembled my body mounts in the wrong order. I assembled #'s 1, 2, and 3 alright but put #4 below the floor. It now appears another divorce of the body and frame in in order. I am very glad this was brought up so I can do it correctly. Thanks everyone.
Terry............You did it correctly. Don't undo it!
Call me and we'll "walk through" It.
John
Terry, #4 IS directly under the floor. there are just 4 bodymounts that have the additional special shim washer #5 added on top of # 4 and next to the lower floorboard metal.
Thanks. I had checked my og mounts and found that the way I assembled things was correct. I called John, aka KYBlueOval, to tell him what I found. He told me he also had posted that I had things correct. Thanks to both John and Guenter for saving me lots of additional work!
