I need to purchase clips to fasten the stainless to the car. Can anyone tell me the part numbers and supplier for the needed clips? I see Dennis Carpenter has some but I want to make an informed purchase so I don't have return them.
Thanks for the help that I know will be provided!

I made my own with assorted sizes of Elevator bolts and studs welded on strips of 18 gauge sheetmetal.Looked around and found them to be very expensive in the last few years....
IF I remember... seems I bought clips from Dennis Carpenter and they weren't right. I wound up buying the clips from Restoration Specialties. They have a great assortment of all kinds of small parts but I had to get a paper catalog from them, their website was lacking but that was several years ago...
The easiest way (IMO) to go about it is use a BODY SUPPLIER like -

I would also consider nylon retainers to prolong that $$$ paint job.
These (PIC) go in the lowest point of the side molding.
Thanks for info, I will needing it. Is there a clip breakdown for front doors and front fender on forum also?
70A (Custom) uses no door or fender moldings.
COS is not the original poster. We'd need more info on COS's car.................probably a Custom 300 (70B?), but need him to confirm.
Hello Thanks for info. My car is 66b ranchero. I thought the SS trim was the same as cars with single full length SS (not cars with diamond AL gold inserts) I need all of them.
The model 70A has side trim as pictured in reply #1 this post.
I have bought from this company. Mr G's fasteners.

You have to download his catalog and when printed on letter it prints to scale.
I found some that work on my 57 hardtop Victoria trim.
The pricing is much cheaper than some places even if you have to modify them a bit. I forget what pages they are but he's got. A few pages of metal clips and some for plastic clips.

Abe... Incredible resource......
Not sure if the OP is asking about a 300 or a plain Custom..... but I can verify. the 300 custom has over 100 trim holes to fill.... I wish I would have known about Mr. G.
good prices and enough to do the trick!

Thanks KULTULZ thats what I needed. You know your way around forum much better than I do.
I would say dont repost this resourse too much, he list has gotten smaller over the years as his inventory goes away. also note you should have the black 3M body caulk AKA dum-dum within these so not to scratch nice paint and weather seal.

I'll be in Ft.Worth in a couple of weeks.........I plan on stopping in and checking it out. Stay tuned for a follow up report.
Kultulz...........Thanks for the posting. Great information. I appreciate it.
Rich..........Glad to hear your surgery went well. Don't lift anything heavier than a skirt for about six weeks!
John
I have used plumbers caulk to install the clips and seal things up around the holes. Stays soft with just a skim on the surface so it won't collect dirt and such.

I was in Ft.Worth for a few days and went by Mr. G's, to see what they have.
I was given a quick tour and they indeed have a lot of clips, grommets etc.I asked if it was all N.O.S. and they informed that there was some N.O.S. and some came from Taiwan. I saw a fair amount of Auveco Boxes while there, which you can get anywhere.

I pretty much used what Jeff just pictured. Just got them at the local paint supply store. Not sure what they're called, I call them butterfly fasteners.
Thanks for checking it out John. I did my 64 wagon with clips from MR.G. I think as all the Auveco clips dry up they been finding similar clips to keep the supply going.
Abe, I read your reply to say that Auveco is no longer producing the clips that we need for our '57's. Is that correct?
John
No what I mean is that some are just in short supply at this vendor. He might not be able to restock. It's noted some times or when you call. They will say they only have X amount.
I noticed that some of the clips are also listed on restoration specialties with specific makes and years. Same part it happens to be known what it fits but then the price is more.
