Flawebmaster:

When I just about had my 57 back together, I was testing the clutch pedal travel against a new Centerforce DualFriction clutch & presssure plate.  All of a sudden the clutch pedal went to the floor and disn't return.  Seems like after about 48 years of use the metal in the Z-bar finally had given up, it crystallized.  The fix was a solid metal pipe center drilled & then tapped for a zirque fitting.  Rick Crawford came up with the fix and everything has worked great even under not so speedy speed shifting.  Just thought I'd pass this along for anyone that is re-doing their Z-bar, that instead of re-using the old relatively thin Z-bar stock it might be a good idea to do an upgrade.
