Title: Ranchero tailgate

 I have a ranchero tailgate but latches and rods are from a wagon I need advice on converting latches and making new shorter rods any advice would be appreciated

The rods should remain the same length as all the workings for the latches are the same, wagon or Ranchero.  I had a wagon gate for my Ranchero.  The main difference is the sheet metal parts that mount on top of it.  I used the wagon latches with the part that sticks up just cut off.  That was done about five years ago, no pictures and I just don't remember enough details to give you a detailed description.  I just remember it being very easy with no tricks involved.

I also have a 57 Ranchero and agree with Ford Blue blood, as far as I know everything is the same but the top cap.I think I have a pair of the latches with the rods.

Update tailgate is working and wasn't as difficult as I thought it would be.
