Are you referring to adapting a SUV rear wiper motor to a 57 Ford? If so, why? Most SUVs that I am aware of have only a single wiper blade, so you would likely be retaining the factory cable and pulley wiper mechanism. And if you are keeping the cable and pulley setup, a Tri 5 Chevy electric wiper motor is a straight forward 5 minute (literally) bolt on swap. Even the original wiper knob and cable fits directly on to the Chevy wiper motor.

I'm aware of the tri five chevy wiper motor swap, but finding one in Sioux City Iowa that is any good at a decent price is impossible .Thanks

Since the Delco wiper motor is so popular, there are repops and rebuilds available.

A 60 Ford full size will bolt in as well!  The only thing is the holes for mounting need to be bushed down as the mounting screws in the 60 are larger than those in the 57.  Same hook up, stock 57 control and 12V.

Interesting to know, any idea if electric wipers were standard by 1960, or still optional. Pretty sure 1959 was the first year that Ford had optional electric wipers , but vacuum was standard equipment. My 59 came with vacuum wipers, but I have aquired 3 of the factory 59 electric motors, 2 don`t work, one does work, but doesn`t park the wiper arms when turned off. Hopefully I can make 1 good, fully functional unit from the 3, although the only time that I would drive it in the rain, is if I was out driving, and unexpected rain happened.

I seem to remember '58s were the first year for electric.

I used a 60 Ford electric wiper on my 2nd 57... and Bill is correct, I had to make 2 little metal spacers to move it away from the firewall to clear the body seam/lip.
It really works well and is a 2 speed, auto park and is a bolt in.

I did use a aftermarket unit on my first 57, the Unit from Newport Engineering.... but I believe they are over $300 now.a very good alternative.
I never had any luck with the factory vacuum system.....

Used the 60 motor on the 58 Edsel.  They were still an option in 60.  My 61 Comet has a vacuum motor, electrics were available then as an option in the Comet, not sure about the Falcon.

I was born in 1957, so I can`t say how well the vacuum wipers worked when the cars were new, but I do remember as a 9 year old in 1966, my Dad swearing at the vacuum wipers on the family 58 2 door Ranch Wagon (6 cylinder automatic), especially going up hill. And my 3 57 Ford cars, and my 59, all had vacuum wipers, with the 2 stage "booster" type fuel pump, that was supposed to help the wipers to work better, but they were all still very poor. They do work really well, when coasting downhill though! I couldn`t imagine having those vacuum wipers if you lived in a hilly or mountainous area, when you may have a steady uphill climb that could be several miles long, or towing a trailer.

Dennis Carpenter sells a windshield wiper kit (motor assembly and parts) for a 1960 ford truck for $150.00, wonder if that would fit??
