I am sure some of you also saw this last night. At the Barrett Jackson auction they sold a 1957 70D fo $90,000.00. It's kind of a good feeling to see one of our favorites sell for that much.
I tried to find it on the BJ website but couldn't. Anybody have a link to it? or at least info?
Alvin, thanks for posting that, yes it's always great to see high sales prices on our babies. A few years ago, a 70a (?) sold for 379,ooo at a Kissemmee, Fla. aution.
Rich, it sold on Friday night. I think they called it a custom 300, they talked about it not having a back seat.
Saw it on Thursday. Hood was closed. Said to have been ordered as a rear seat delete car. Very nice. Displayed with period bootleg bottles and such. i didn't think to take pictures but if you get on the Barrett Jackson site there should still be pictures. Also an Ecode retractable, appeared correct although air cleaner was smaller than I've seen before and had been chromed.
..
probably this one ?

sweet ride! Nice pics too. Thanks for the link G.
Kaase engine was most of the $90k.
Yea. I was lucky enough to visit his shop back in '09. A friend of mine has Kaase as a client in his investment company. We had been at the 45th Mustang show in Birmingham. and my buddy wanted to go see Jon. We stopped by and he gave us free rein of the shop to see what was going on, and then showed us new engines in development at the time.
VERY gracious man who is understandably proud of his crew and what they do. We were there for about an hour or so. Easily one of the best parts of that week-long trip.
Thanks for the link. I'd sure like to see a pic of the Vin plate because of the fact they are calling it a Custom 300, but it has the basic Custom trim. I wonder if the rear package shelf was supplied by Ford when the back seat was deleted on order.
Nice car
What is the base for a 557 engine , a 460? . is the engine total aftermarket ,I would rather have it with an F - code y Block and o.d. transmission. I don't like floor shifts in 57's. Just my thoughts.

4.44 bore x 4.50 stroke. A regular 460 block can get you there but it's not a good combination in my opinion for a street car. The engine in the 57 may be using a A-460 Ford racing block?
I was there and it actually sold for 100k, which isn't much compared to what the tri five chevys were bringing, but what's new.
