Can someone school me on this carb, I have never seen one. My 57 had a 4V from the factory, by VIN, that has been changed to a 2V. I was given a 4V manifold and it has the Teapot, says Holley on it. Is it a decent carb for the 312? Do I rebuild it or find one of the AFB'S or some other, the engines stock duel exhaust.
Try @ jviera I know he rebuilt the two on his '57 and they work flawlessly.
I ran into him in Carlisle and I'm pretty sure he's on his way back, so give him some time to respond; I'm sure he can help you out.
Tea pots were only used on E and F code cars in 57. Your manifold and carb is probably 56 or Mercury. In my experiences Tea pots are fine if properly rebuilt and plug leaks sealed. AFBs, Motocrafts and Holley 4bbls were all used on 57 312s, but require a 57 manifold. Never run a Tea pot without an air cleaner, there is a reason they were caller blazing infernos with the Y blocks rear mounted distributor.

Correct on the 56, guy in town has a couple and this was from one of his parts cars. I had not seen one and I did find kits available. I read about vacuum & fuel leaks and any fuel leaks not good unless your looking for insurance payout. Just wondering if I should just get another carb and maybe sell this. I saw a rebuilt for $800 probable could find cheaper and I still wouldn't be period correct. The other carb's you listed I'm sure would be readily available.
I would not use a teapot as it is an older design and not correct for a 57 (except as noted). I put a small Holley 4V (450 cfm I think) on my 292 in 1967 after finding the the manifold...
They are easily tunable and rebuild-able, and come in a variety of sizes. Parts are readily available.
I pulled the carb to clean the intake etc. After have it apart I'm sure I can make it all work BUT I would need to plug ports where the choke connects and several other opening into the intake.
I would like to find a correct 312 manifold & carb, this might be the first place to check. Anyone have a 57 manifold & carb or anyone need a 56 manifold & Tea pot? The carb looks to be complete and from what I saw for prices on eBay I know they are few and far between, even cores/parts carbs are $120 or more. Hoping someone car put this to use. I believe it was off a 272/292 yellow painted?
The Teapots from the 1955 and 1956 Fords with 4bbl carburetor are paired to w load-o-matic distributor. This will not work well with the 1957 distributor. You can put the 1956 or 1955 Distributor in your car and it will work fine but will not be correct and you may have a slight loss of power due to no centrifugal advance. I would sell the Teapot and but a 450 CFM later model Holley carburetor.
Thanks cokefirst that's my plan, I just need to find the correct manifold first. I have posted the setup in the for sale section. Hope I priced it fair.
Well I now have two of the ECZ-9425-B manifold and still need an OEM carb.
What is the part number for a 312 Manifold the takes the Holly wider bolt pattern? I now have 3 ECZ-9425-B and all have the narrow pattern. I see they also make an A but I cant find one to check the carb bolt pattern. One of my B's is complete, pictured. Two of the "B" are also marked 56.
Are you sure the casting number is ECZ on your manifolds? Here is the information I have.
1955 Ford and Thunderbird with 4 barrel carburetor should have casting number ECB 9425 B
1956 Ford and Thunderbird with 4 barrel carburetor should have casting numbers ECZ 9424 A OR EDB 9424 D
1957 Ford and Thunderbird with 4 barrel carburetor should have casting number ECZ 9424 B
The 1957 is the manifold you want, as it has the larger spread bolt pattern that the more modern carburetor's use.
The 1957 Ford parts book uses both 9424 and 9425 as the basic number for the manifold. I have no clue as to why.

These are two of my three manifolds the Tea Pot has the same numbers. I'll do the carbs next as the forum will only allow two? pictures
The tag is on a Holly 4V and the second is a Crater AFB both have the larger bolt pattern. I'll measure the differences on the carbs and manifolds next trip to my shop.
The two manifolds you took the photos of are the casting number for the 1955 Ford and Thunderbird with 4 barrel carburetor. That manifold is unique to the 1955 model year and the choke thermostat mounts in the intake manifold and not the carburetor. This uses the square mount Holley 4000 carburetor. The 1956 Holley 4000 had the choke thermostat mounted on the side if the carburetor and is also the small square bolt pattern on the carburetor mount.
The List 1273 Carburetor is correct for the 1957 Ford and Thunderbird with the 312 engine and single 4 bbl. They also put a Carter AFB on some of the 1957 cars. The manifold is the same. I have heard, but cannot verify that the Carter 4 barrel was used on the station wagons only.
You will need the 1957 Manifold if you want to use that Holley 4 barrel. You will also want to use the 1957 or later distributor, as the 1956 and 1955 Y block distributors was a Load-o-matic that used vacuum advance only with no centrifigual advance.

So I need the ECZ 9424 B not the 9425 B The car is a 57 312 but someone changed the 4V to a 2V and by VIN it is supposed to be the 4V. Guess I'm looking for another manifold and I have some 9425's to sell.
Yes sir! Everyone wants the 1957 manifold. The others have value, but no where near what the 57 will bring.
I have yet to find one ............
If you have a 56 4 barrel intake you can put an adapter on it to fit a modern wide base carb., we did it on my buddys 56 F-100 292, he's running a 500 cfm Edelbrock carb its been on there for 10 years runs like a champ.
Adapter from most auto parts stores.
So I got to thinking a lot say the ECZ-9425-B is the manifold for the 1957 312 what carb would that have been? The 57 carbs I have have the wide base so what narrow base would have been used?
That was nota 57 manifold.
