Title: 1957 Ford Ranchero
Post by: Iceman on 2025-06-30 07:21
Have a 1957 Ford Ranchero with a 292 Y block, had a crack in the original tank and when i installed the new tank, my fuel pressure goes from 4 psi to 0. When the engine is cold and idle, its at 4 psi, once you put a load on it or going up a hill, it goes to around 1/2 psi. I installed a new fuel pump, fuel filter and keeps doing the same.
In looking at the new tank, there is three threaded openings, one on the drivers side, front side and bottom. I know that the bottom is the drain plug but is one of the other two a vent and one a pick up line? I have the fuel line currently hooked to the drivers side, should I switch to the front side or will that make a difference?
Seems to be sucking in air from the tank but cannot determine where this so called leak is coming from.

Might want to check the fuel line going into the tank for years of corrosion building up. I had the same problem with a 58 Edsel and it had the same symptoms. I guess you could try and run the car with a temporary fuel line and container to rule out a blockage in the original line.
