I am starting to think about the AC system I want to put in my car. Does anyone have pictures of the original bracketry for the Y block? I have to put mine on the driver side above the PS pump. I will probably have to make up something, so I need to be able to copy it.
Thanks,
Mike
Mike perhaps consider or check to see what those old air products or vintage air offers in the way of brackets.
I believe the original that requires a three belt pulley crank. Costing as much as a whole set up.
This is a topic. I'm very interested in might do it for my wagon. I thought You had a 390 not a Yblock after all
Original Y-block, the FE A/C mounts were also heavy castiron that mounted to the driver side head. Took the york style compressor.
I check with V.A. and they don't have anything like the original brackets, which is what I need. I am running a 312 Y block, wo will have to fab something up.
Mike
You might be able to source an after market bracket from Vintage Air, they make A/C kits for 50's F-100 (probably with Y-Blocks) trucks. They use modern compressors.
Never mind....
I have a hybrid factory air unit in my car. all the internals are 1957 but the compressor mounts over the power steering unit on the driver's side. I believe that the bracket is from a 1958 with factory air. The bracket is well made like a factory unit. I have seen the aftermarket brackets and they look like something that you would fabricate in your garage. It is not cast iron, but heavy steel. I can take photos if you like.
Try these guys.....

Cokefirst, yes I would like to see pics. I will PM you.
Thanks,
Mike
Here are two photos of the bracket. I believe it is a factory bracket for a 1958 Ford with Select Air.
Last photo. This is a 1957 Skyliner
Cokefirst, thanks-that is what I need to know. I will have to fabricate the bracket but at least I know how to do it now and where to bolt it.
Mike
It may be difficult, but I believe this is the factory mount for the 1958 Select Aire with the 292 Y block engine. If you want, I can research the part number and maybe you can find one on Fee BaY.
That would be great, I am assuming that I will have to fab one up. I have plenty of wire for my welder.....
Mike
Is this the correct y block 58/59 that I need Dan?

It is hard to tell from the photos but it look like it will work.
OK, got the 58 main bracket yesterday. So I will try and see if I can get this thing to bolt up correctly.
