I hope this is, OK?? I seen this at the Monroe, MI auto swap meet got me thinking of djfordmanjack and wanted to share... I guess this is what happens when you bring a Volkswagen to Ohio!!!
Finally...a VW that can get down the road without being a road block!
Ha ! That is wild !!! thx for sharing !
Hugh that is not a SBF nor an FE. so I guess it still is a road block.... :003:
That said, it is quite possible to make anything but a road block from and old air cooled folks-wagon. They are great for hop ups and go like stink if you want them to. It is now exactly 30 years that I have been into veedubs and FoMoco all the same. 1995 I bought my first 1965 Mercury Comet and also my first 1966 VW 1300 bug.
Hey Guys, Don't get me wrong, The first mode of transportation I bought for my girlfriend/future wife was a 64 VW we Loved that car, rebuilt that motor 3 times ended up with left over bolt or two each time and the thing always was depended able and ran!!! She got Pregnant and traded it for a Volvo wagon, but I always enjoyed that little car, no match for the cars I drove back then, but a fun ride none the less...
We had a 1966 beetle at work for running around picking up parts and such. Thing was great in the snow. From what I remember (45 years ago) it didn't have a gas gauge, just a lever you would pull for the reserve tank. Being air cooled the heating system wasn't the most efficient either.
It was 1975 when we had that Bug, in San Diego, California, nothing better at that time than riding shotgun going to the beach and a pretty girl in shorts and bikini top behind the wheel!! Surfs Up...
Had a German friend of mine here that put 500 cubic inch Cadillac engines in a two Beetles and in a van.
They were true Porsche beaters. The Beatles ended up being shipped back to Germany. I will try to find some pictures.
