As you can see in the photos, I'm in need of a spring. Is there a vendor that sells these springs?
If there isn't, does anyone have one they'll part with?
Thanks

I hope you can open these two photos, if not let me know and I'll get a ten year old to show me how to do it correctly.
Let me look in the shed in the next few days, I may have an old latch assembly.
Larry's Thunderbird and Mustang Parts has them listed for $6.06 each .
I just googled 57/58 ford door latch assembly springs and scrolled down to see Larry's listing
Hope this helps
Happy Thanksgiving
Ray
Thanks Rich and Ray!
Hope you have an enjoyable day with your family celebrating this great Thanksgiving Day.
John
I'd go with the new ones if you can get them. Let me know.
Here is the follow up on the springs.
I ordered them from Larry's Thunderbird and Ford Parts.
There are two springs. One large and one smaller.
Larry's on line catalog calls the smaller spring "Door latch spring". Larry's on line part number is. P 21812C
The larger spring is listed as "Door latch control spring" part number P 21910A. Both are around $6.00 each.
They are shipping via USPS, which is less expensive than the other, options of UPS or FEDEX
UPDATE.......I received my parts from Larry's......There's good news and bad news.
First the good news. Part number. P21812C, now renumbered to B21812E is correct. It is the smaller spring of the two springs on the latch assembly.I've installed it and all is good.
The bad news. Part number P 21910A,listed in their on line catalog as Door Latch Control Spring '54-'59 is renumbered to B21910A AND renamed. It is now described as Door Lock Remote Spring. This spring goes on the assembly that the interior door handle mounts on.
I ordered based on the catalog description as well as a confirmation from Larry's order desk, that it was the larger of the two latch springs. Larry's DOES NOT HAVE the larger of the two
springs.
So I need two, of the larger door latch springs.I would image this spring is used on the rear doors of 4 door '57's. Just a WAG! (Wild Ass Guess)

John
NPD ( national parts depot ) has them listed on their website under 55/57 thunderbird parts.
They show them in stock at their location in Michigan and Florida and North Carolina.
I googled ford part p21910a spring and their listing came up.
I hope this will get you the other springs.
Ray
Thanks Ray, I'll check on that later today.
Ray, I went to the NPD website and found the spring you mentioned. That spring has slightly different names, depending on who is selling it. Regardless of the different names, that spring goes on the remote interior door handle assembly. It's the splined shaft assembly that the interior door handle slides over.
Unfortunately, it is not the larger latch spring that I need. I think finding a used latch, will be the solution.
Thanks for your help.
John
John, I "think" I have a latch assembly that was broken and I replaced it. It is complete and I will try to remember to look for it. I am pretty bad at remembering to do stuff like that sometimes so feel free to constantly remind me. give me a day or two...
Thanks Lynn.
I'll check as well, tomorrow.
Thanks Rich
I've got what you need, I think. I sent a text w/pic. send me your address. It's probably best to wait until the xmas rush is over so it doesn't get lost in the mail. Let me know if you got the text via phone.
Rich, yes I received your text and replied with my address.
Thank you!
Merry Christmas!
John

I thought that was what these forums were for helping with knowledge and sharing parts as needed. That and YouTube university on how to.

That's the way the forum has worked for me. If I need something, I ask. If I can help someone, I do. The forum members are great. They share knowledge and parts freely! Thank you to everyone for that!
