Title: door latch does not work
Post by: 1930artdeco on 2025-12-12 18:54
OK, I found out that my driver side door latch does nothing. Close door and it will just open right back up. The star spins/ratchets but that is all. Ideas to help me fix the newest problem?

Thanks,

Mike

Mike.......There should be two springs in the door latch......Do you have both?
Go to the "Wanted" Section of the FOURM, and look for "Door Latch Springs" . There are photos of the latch and the springs that I needed and where to get them........IF that is your issue.

I found mine doing the same thing, only intermittently.  Soaked them in kerosene and they worked as designed.  Used graphite key lube to lube them up.  The old grease in them had hardened and made them "sticky".  Also had one with a broken spring.  John's source is a good one.
