Title: WTB 1957 Y block radiator hose
Post by: ECODE70D57FORD on 2008-01-20 20:56
Does someone out there know of a supplier where I can purchase a nice preformed top radiator hose for my 57 Ford Y block car?   I purchased one from Macs  and it does not even come close to fitting.   Thanks Jay in Mass.

Do you have the correct thermostat housing?  The passenger car hose nipple points to the right side of the car, the truck one points straight up and leaning forward slightly, the T Bird one points straight forward and is larger than the other two.  The wrong one would make it impossible to install the right hose.  The last hose I got came from NAPA.

Thanks for taking the time to answer my question.   My thermostat  housing must be the correct one because it points toward the right.  I just took a second look at the Mac's hose.   It is clearly marked that it fits 57 Ford 6 cyl. and 8 cyl.  I'll just save it for some day that I might jury rig it to another application.

There is a Napa Store in the next town over from me.   I check them out.

Would someone happen to have the Napa part number?

Thanks.... Jay in Mass.

In my mind I see the 6 cylinder hose longer than the V8 hose.  Maybe you have to cut some material off the hose to make it fit?  Maybe even some from each end.

The 6 cylinder one they sent me is actually too short and does not line up at all .   I'll just wait and see what Napa comes up with.  This is not something that will keep me from getting it started.
Oh by the way.......Thanks for the information on the vacuum question on the other string.
Thanks Jay
