Title: Anybody swap a 312 in a 57 Sunliner to a 57 Lincoln 368 Big Y-Block?
Post by: Bob57Ford on 2015-06-08 19:09
I have a very nice 57 Sunliner with a stuck 312. I have no problem rebuilding it, but I also like the idea of doing a "period correct" hot rod mod. I have a 57 Lincoln 368 big block y-block engine that I would like to use. Is there anyone out here that's done such a swap? If so, highlight the details. Thanks.

Didn't they offer the 368 in the 57 Mercury? If it goes in the Mercury, it should be an easy swap.

I believe a 368 was offered in the Turnpike Cruiser. One of my concerns are the motor mounts and the compatibility to the Fordomatic already in the convertible.

I know the Ford offered two Fordomatics. The small case and the medium case. Both worked on the smaller Y-Block. I really don't know if the medium case is the same as what came with the 368 in Merc's,
