Title: hesitation
Post by: drof75 on 2017-07-11 13:21
I got the Fairlane out of 2 yr storage. Engine is for sure good. I have severe hesitation when I give it the gas from a stop. Not to the floor, just push on the peddle. it will recover and run good if i feather it. any ideas?

Accelerator pump diaphragm is probably dried out and rock hard from sitting for so long. With the engine NOT running look down the carb and work the throttle linkage, you should see a good shot of fuel from the booster, if you don't then that may be the problem.

If the carb doesn't end up taking care of your hesitation you may also check your vacuum advance. My advance diaphram had rotted out internally and wasn't advancing my timing. FYI
