Title: SOLD--NOS FoMoCo headlight panels--SOLD
Post by: JPotter57 on 2017-11-14 12:20
I have a pair of extremely nice and very rare NOS Ford Motor Company headlight panels, left and right.  I bought these to repair the fenders for my Custom, but have since changed my mind since the others are done, and came out looking ok after paint.  These will have the original seam when installed.  Still have the original FoMoCo brown primer with yellow stenciled part numbers.  Asking 450 for the pair.  Free shipping in the Continental US, overseas will be actual shipping.

Wow, James, I never saw the ad or I would have scrapped up some money just to have them.
Exactly what Joe needs......I think I'm remembering his was the dual headlights car he just bought and wanted to change back to OEM. LOL, I was telling him it would be a heck of a job since the replacement repops are so badly formed. These will make it SOOOOO much easier for him. Great!

Yes, James made part of the process painless ( except for my wallet. :002:  ). Now just need to find the buckets, springs and doors.  bawl

Thanks ray, I'll give him a call after work.

...and Rich, if you are still looking, I had found this guy who had a NOS, but he only had one: https://www.fordbarn.com/forum/showthread.php?t=199783&highlight=57+headlight

Thanks for the link, Joe. I wasn't really looking, but I do have a spare set of fenders that need the panels, but it'll probably be a few years before I finish up the honey-do list for the new house, lol.

Can somebody please clearcoat that B7A-*** part # and hang it on his shop wall. this pieces are pure art. :004:

Come to think about it Joe, what are you doing with the quad headlight assemblies ?

DJ, I'm probably going to sell them to try and recoup some of my single headlight conversion money. I figure this change-back-to-original is going to cost me an easy Grand. :102:

Joe, I think you're going to need a set of these as well and they are getting harder and harder to find.

Masking tape held one of the eyebrows on for several years until I finally use JB Weld to glue studs.

Joe, I am sure that you will need the total that you estimate. no paint or body work included. 57 parts are not cheap or easy to find anymore these days. especially good quality NOS or OEM.
When you finished your conversion and are ready to part with the quad headlight assemblies, would you mind putting them on the classifieds here on the forum ? Obviously I am interested and also Steve from NZ. I think he was the first to comment and show interest in your members rides topic, so he should be probably first to get a chance.
Just let us know.

I got my fender extensions in the mail today and they are as advertised, brand new. Thanks JPotter57  :icon_cheers: :D

So, I decided I'd brave the cold and head into the garage and see what I could find when I removed the headlight door. I pulled the 3 screws and the door came right out with no damage, good so far...

...then I flipped it over and found a FOMOCO  and Ford part #....uh-oh.... looks like '58 headlights...   :puke:

(https://i.imgur.com/cjIBorz.jpg?2) :dontknow:

...and it looks like I may have opened a can of worms. It appears that they drilled out the spot welds and hammered over the fender edge that the door is attached to. Looks like the also welded a brace to the fender lip to stiffen the bucket assembly. Then cut out the bottom and fabbed up the headlight door bottom and gas welded in a '58? assembly. I think this may be an old custom mod, especially since it appears to be gas welded?  :old:

Not sure what I want to do at this stage of the game. Do I really want to start welding on the fender and ended up trying to match/repaint the nose?

Oh yeah...and Ray, you're right; looks like I'm gonna need a set of eyebrows if i decide to go through with this!

business as usual, Joe. Nothing ever seems to go easy. Now, just put those headlights bezels back on and leave it as is ! (IMHO)
Your car looks gorgeous and the mods are well done. It could even be custom work done back in the 1960s.
if you really want to go back to the 57 headlights you'd better be off to purchase another set of fenders, like so many forum members suggested before. most of those donor fenders would need the headlight panels anyways, so nothing is lost with your purchase.

I'm probably gonna try and make this work, just need to figure it out. If I can access the fender side of the extension and I can drill the spot welds out, I maybe be able to use 3M Panel Bond rather than welding it back together. If I'm careful :old: and I take my time, I might be able to cut out the brace and bend that lip back down a little at a time to accept the new fender extension and bond that together also.  :dontknow: Right now working on getting some eyebrows; if I succeed, then I may hold off until the end of summer (providing it ever shows up) and that's only if my buddy can match and blend the paint, if he thinks he can't because it's too old.......then I may have a yard sale on '57 headlight parts.  :003: or...God forbid on a '57.  bawl

I'll add my $.02 to this. IF, it were me, I would want to be 100% certain that I could get a paint color match, BEFORE I started making the conversion, to avoid disappointment when it is completed, and the color does not match. You'll invest a few bucks upfront, to insure a positive outcome.

I agree, that's why I stopped at my buddies shop last night and we went over the whole project. He is certain that he can match the color, when the time comes he'll take a "picture" to get the right mix.

Wow............marble countertops in your garage. I'm impressed.
I wish my buckets were in as good a shape as those. They are frequently rusted badly.

I'm very happy with the condition of 57chero's parts and the price as well!   :003:

they are very nice! especially the flat 3 wire looms with all the og connectors. it's another little detail that makes a 57 what it is.
Hope you still have the connector blocks on the inner fender wells.

Before you start taking those apart, think about the possibility of getting another set of 57 fenders that you can install your new pieces on while you are still driving and enjoying the car.  Then you can sell the modified fenders and recoup some of the money invested in the nice 57 pieces that you have. Just a thought.
