Title: Gasser front axle
Post by: Jimburnaugh on 2018-01-15 12:23
Just wondering if anyone has installed a straight front axle, gasser front end. Able to use stock steering box?  Just curious as to what issues you encountered.

The Speedway Motors catalog has some info.
A friend of mine did this on a 60 Ford many yrs ago and used the stock box but, had to heat
and bend the pitman arm (btw, not something I would do).
I think it had to be bent down because of the steep angle of the cross rod.

Goodluck,

Ron.

I kept the stock box on my '66 Fairlane GT.  I used an Econoline/Falcon axle, springs and drag link.  The drag link ran parallel to the frame.  I had to 'clock' the pitman arm.  I drove it several years.
