Hi,

When trying to take the car for a ride this morning I noticed that the GEN light did not go red when I tested the light before driving. Later during the drive, the car stalled. After testing the battery, it showed that there was hardly any current - 10.9 volts. I managed to get the car running by using a power supply. But now I wonder - how do I test the output from the generator? Any advice?

Thanks,

Claus

This is a bit primitive ,but we just disconected the battery cable while it was running. If it stayed running your charging system was working, if it stalled-you have a problem. Mark

While your working on the car put a new set of brushes in the generator.

You can buy a voltmeter that simply plugs into your cigarette lighter. You plug it in before you start the car and note the voltage reader. Start the car and if the voltage goes up your generator or alternator is working. I have one and it works great.

Thank you very much for the link. What a great gadget. I will have one.
