What's wrong with the front clip that can't be fixed? Mine has been worse than that
after a bout with a tree. :003:

the front frame has been cut off at the firewall and 2x3" tube has been used for the front rails where the straight axle mounts. I could probably graft a new clip onto it if I wanted to but for now it will stay.

I think that's a good way to do it. I've seen tri five Chevs done with 2X3 sq tube.

Theres nothing wrong with that.  I like seeing 57s with straight axles every now and then.  Sort of a reminder that not all race cars in the 60s were 55 chevies.  I agree with Ron that the 2x3 tubingframe stub is the best way to go.  Your car looks good to me.
