Just bought another 9 inch diff centre, but just dawned on me that it could be the wrong axel spline..

Does the 1957 Fairlane 500 9 inch diff run 28 spline axels?

Cheers all..

All 57s were 28 spline.  What gear ratio?

31 splines didn't start popping up until in the 60s and then they were in a nodular iron pumpkin.  If your pumpkin has a "N" cast into it above and to the right or the pinion housing check the spiders.

No definately 28 spline centre I just bought.. It is a 3.25:1 ratio, but only a single wheeler. Didnt build a rocket ship this time so just that little bit more oomph to give it some kick off the line but dont need both wheels to spin. With the 15 inch wheel and tyre combination i am using it should sit on 2800 rpm (or there abouts) at 100km/h or 75mp/h..

We can see once its in, but at least the axels will fit..

Thanks for that..

Cheers
