I am looking at rebuilding my 312 y block cruiseomatic, My question is should I rebuild it to factory specs or boost the horsepower What would your opinions be? Thanks

That would depend on what you want to do with the car, or want the car to do.

If talking about the Trans, the Ford o matic is a strong transmission already in stock form.
A stock 245 horse 312 runs good also.

soory guys forgot the comma after y block. I want to do an engine rebuild. My engine has never been touche, compression is 125-135 on all but one cylinder and that one is 100. The engine is tired.

yeah I definitely need to check my compression, what are some healthy numbers and is it going to be harder to check the compression on my 312 because I pulled the motor out?
