Fuel Gauge

If I earth out the wire running from the sender unit in the fuel tank should the gauge show full?

Gauge just stopped working but I have a sneaking suspicion it is the actual sender unit.. Just want to test the gauge before I spend more money!!!!!

Yes, just don't hold on ground for long, that bad boy will zip to full pretty quick!  Best you have someone help with that, have them read the gauge as you hold the lead on ground.
