i forgot to mention,    when i go for a ride and the motor is warm its about 185 deg or at the top of the M on the temp gage,   after a awhile it goes to the bottom of the M mark and is about 195,   it sticks out about half in and half out of the shroud,    has a 6 blade from concours, in case i forgot i'm running a 3/4 cam,  do u think the temp given is ok and about what i should expect?,       thanks

What I did is drill and tap a hole in to the thermostat area about 1" behind the thermostat housing. It ain't very thick but was enough to screw in a temp sensor for the elec fan. If you use a elec temp gauge it should work. By the way I have a cast iron intake, don't know the thickness of a aftermatket intake.
