Visors

Is there an easy way to tighten the visor on it's shaft? Mine have been re-upholstered and just slowly creep down, especially when the engine is idling. Really annoying, I've tried taking it off and turning it back around 1 rev in the opposite direction but it jusy slowly oozes back down.

Pull it off the shaft and try lightly tapping with a hammer in the area where the rod goes in.  The thing is just held in place with friction, distorting the round part that goes around the shaft will help hold it....or.....take a cold chisel and strike the rod along it's length to put ridges in it to cause it to bind.

Thanks, I'll try that. For whatever reason I've never taken a visor apart and I didn't want to screw it up.
