Well guys the big two day swap meet in Mansfield Mass. was a wash out.  It rained all day Saturday and stopped on Sunday after 1:00 PM.  I'm talking about some heavy rain at times. After that we had nice sunny weather for the drive home with our very wet parts.

When the rain did let up a little, I got to take some pictures of the only 57 I found.  It needed some work so I guess that it didn't matter much that it was not covered.  The stainless on the car was very nice and it had power steering, power brakes and lots of nice parts. He wanted $1500.  I advised him that if it did not sell, to take it back  home, carefully remove the good pieces and sell them.   He said that is what he is going to do.

Tim..   I'm happy for   you that you did not make the long trip from home to here.  You would have been very disappointed.

Wow. $1500 for that? Never out of my pocket.  That is in rough condition

A bunch of my friends came by when I was up on that ramp truck looking at the and asked if I was going to buy it and jokingly asked how soon I would get it running.

I told them I don't think that if I did, "I wouldn't have it running this week for  the car cruise."

As Gary stated..."Rough, yes but a Skyliner!!"

It still has pieces that some 57 restorer need.  I'm glad that the young man that has it hauled it off the farm where he located it .

Sometimes I feel that it's our duty to save as many as possible, even if it is just for parts.
That's why I bought the 57 Del Rio a couple of weeks ago.

There could be $1500 worth of parts if it were dismantled. As for restoring there would have to be some emotional connection to the car or you'd have to be just plain crazy in my opinion.

It was sitting so long that the frame was rusted out and the doors would not open.

Jay, I'm sorry to hear about the rain at the swap meet. I will plan on comming next year for sure! Things didn't go as planned here either. I finally got the car running, but had extreme over heating issues, and my new starting  coil malfunctioned and kept power to the ignition coil, two hours later I went out and found the coil boiling oil out of it!    That rain was a real bummer this week end.  I look forward to seeing  you next year.
Are you using an FE engine with a stock radiator?  In the olden days, that worked for me.
That wire to the coil staying hot should be an easy problem to find.  Too bad that you burned out a new coil.
I wonder if your father would have taken the Y block with trips out of HIS car?

Jay, I have a 351 w in the car now, I bought a aluminum radiator for it, the fan is 3" away from it though, I think it is too far away. I was also in the process of breaking in the new cam, so sitting still at 2000-2500 rpm's isn't a norm. Given my day Saturday, I wish I still had the y block installed, and not under the bench! Lol!
