Back glass question

   I know that I have talked about this earlier in another post  but I'm at the point where I have to make a decision to ship this back windshield very soon. This is is a copy of an email that  I tried to send to John Gambill and am waiting for an answer.  Has anyone on this forum  ever made this swap?

    My brother needs a back windshield for his 1957 Ford 4 door hardtop
model 57A.
     Yesterday I took one out of a 1957 Ford Model 58B  Fairlane 4 door sedan post
car .
      Will the back windshield from a  Model 58B fit a Model 57A?
       I need to know this before I ship it across the country from Mass. to Arizona and would hate to ship  him the wrong one.   The measurements look good but I am not 100% certain that it will fit.

I would call someone like Mac's or Dearborn Classics- anyone who sells the back glass weatherstrip for the 57 Ford cars ,and they will tell what body styles each weatherstrip and glass fits.

Just look it up in the parts book.  It will tell you if they are the same.

Jay...I thought I had remembered seeing a recent post where someone was talking about the rear glass...and found that the sedan is different from the hardtop. Maybe it was your post. I'd do some further research before shipping..my guess would be they are not the same. I know the 2dr hartop rear glass is different than the 2 dr sedan.

Looked it up in the Ford parts book.  A 57 model is exclusive.  No other model will fit.  The 58 model rear glass will NOT fit the 57 model.  The 57 and 58 have a different part number.

I'm going through all of the parts books  Mac's  and Carpenter that I have, but don't have the right ones, so I'll try to do it by computer but I'm not that good with computers.

    Getting mixed messages from different people.

   I called Randy Connor  (RLC partman) today.  He said all the Fairlaine 4drs should fit.
   Called two Windshield dealers one said they fit one said they will not.
    Have not heard from John Gambill yet.
    After sending this message I'll try to reach Dearborn  Classics  by computer to try the windshield seal numbers.
     FWIW  I went to the UPS store with approximate measurements and weight and they said that they will make a box with styrofoam inside and ship it to Az. for about $175.  Jay

    Gary  It looks like you found the bad news.    Thanks for taking the time to look it up and sharing the information with me.  I don't have the parts book. 
    I did locate one glass dealer that has one for the Model 57A.  $350 plus $150 to a business and $250 to a residence.  Looks like I'm going to have to call my brother and tell him that the model 58B that I have will not fit and pass the dealer information on to him.
     I gave it a good try.    Jay 
PS   Thanks to all of you guys for your input and time on this question.   When someone asks a legitimate question, they don't get a ration of BS like on some sites.  I'm glad that I joined this forum.
