What is a good HP target on a 292. Street performance, not a racer. My kid thinks 300 is a good goal.

We have a 650 Holley and headers. I was thinking a good cam and head work will help, just not sure about his HP target.
Anyone can restore a classic car, but it takes a real hot rodder to cut one up and make it cool.

Like John said in your other post, talk to Mummert. Look at his dyno test, 300 HP is doable on the street, but will require some work and $"s.

Thanks guys. I'll check out the site.  :burnout:

I have tried 5 or 6 times to get on the site. Everytime I try it shuts down my computer. I'll try from my work PC later.

HotRod   Go to www.Y-BlocksForever.com web site it's totally devoted to the Ford Y-Block (239,272,292,312,and Canadian Y-blocks) these guys are a treasure trove of information on street and drag racing these engines. They've probably tried it or are in the process so should be able to answer any questions on these engines and keep you up to date with new parts that become available in the forum. Right now I'm running a 292c.i. with a Crane solid lifter cam & lifters--BlueThunder alum. 4-barrel manifold with a B.G. Road Demon carb,Red's headers,MSD elect. ign.& high voltage coil with a 4-speed but tall gears in rear for freeway to cruzins. I still surprise a few people at stop lites, who'd think a 4,000 lb brick(Courier) would move that fast! LOL. Any ways, check out the site for som good readin material! SKIP

I know another guy who can't get on the YBF site, he says it may be his firewall.  To show what I know about computers, I thought a firewall was a piece of sheet metal between the engine and the passengers.  I have to sign in every time I look at that site, I can't get it to remember me for automatic sign in, the folks in charge of the site can't help me, but even one of them has that problem.  It's a great site though.  John
