While I was looking for hood hinges to take  pictures for Rich I discovered this set of interesting hubcaps that I had stored away.  They do not have background paint behind the word Ford.  I don't know where they came from and forgot that I had them.  They could have come with my car when I got it.  So the question is did some cheapo models come plain without the paint.

The more I learn about all Fords is that nothing about them is an absolute. So while some judge might say no, he could just as well be wrong. And our crs are not as well documented as the 56-57 Mark2s.  I'd use them with no qualms.

My first thought was the paint is worn off, but it looks to clean like it was never there. I believe these same hub caps were used on other years. Could be wrong. Kinda like the look.

I also have a set that are not painted. I always thought they came that way, and people painted them.

Those are 57 58 hub caps 57 were painted white 58 were painted gold, When we were kids we would use paint striper to take the color off them, trying to make them look like baby moons.

I have both painted and unpainted caps, my understanding is that the unpainted were over the counter Ford replacement caps.

My 57 caps were white. I took thinner and 4 ot steel wool and made them plain. No marks what so ever. I think they look great

All 4 of the plain ones in the picture are in very bad condition.  I have two good 57 caps on the left and two good 58 ones on the right.   I was planning on painting the gold ones white since those are what I have.  Removing the paint on all of them might be a better idea.  See Pics
