can anyone tell me what i'm doing wrong?,   i have a hard time shutting the hood,  not sure if its out of adjustment or what,    i bring the hood down to the hood release arm then put my hand in the middle of the hood and try to close,  takes me lots of tried before it finally locks up,  isthere a right way?,  when i slam the hood down i'm sure its hitting on the side and causes me chips in the paint,  thats got to stop,   thanks for anyu info,    jerrym

The latch part on the hood is adjustable try to lenghten the rod . make sure when the rod goes into the latch it goes straight down not forsing the hood to one side or the other. Check the rubber bumpers on the cowl that the are not up to high , Also I think that a 59 latch assb is better than 57 if I remember correct.

loosen the hood latch. Then carefully close the hood so that the latch will CENTER ITSELF Carefully, lift the hood and tighten the hood latch.

I have also heard that the '59 hood latch is a better design and that they will lock with out banging the hood down. Does anyone know what the difference is in them compared to the 57 & 58 latch?

I've noticed if I don't shove the release cable all the way in after opening, the hood won't close.
