I know were getting of the subject, but it wasn't a 57 Ford subject any way, so no foul. My Dad landed first wave at Normandy  beach and ended up at the battle of the bulge. He was wounded at St. Vith a few miles from Bastone. Said he laid in the snow all night before he was found. I always think of that when ever someone talks about the terrible time they had in the snow!

Guys like your Dad and mine are the reason why we don't speak German or Japanese now.  They had a job to do and did it.

A night out in the snow, wounded, scared and freezing.  Those guys were tough.  They saw the horrors of war, came home, no shrinks, no counseling.  Just resume life like nothing happened.  Don't know how they did it.

Spend a winter night on a heated building floor or heated car? I also wouldn't like that. But sometimes we, especially the media, need to put things in perspective.  Enough said.

If ya' really want it, all ya' have to do is "STEP- UP"

Guys got to say the media in Birmingham did a bang up job.  No whining or sniveling stories, just road reports, stories of folks helping other folks, the weather guessers taking responsibility for missing the forecast and if you can believe it no major crimes.  A couple of house fires, a doctor who walked six miles to perform brain surgery and a bunch of really great school teachers.

No one in the group my wife was with made any noise or complaints, they all banded together and figured out how to make it work.

I was proud of my wife, many phone calls over the two days, she had a firm handle on what she needed to do and didn't blame nor complain about what was going on.  Just a situation that needed to be delt with.  Of course she had plenty of practice handling stuff with the girls with me being deployed eight times (two wars and a couple of hot locations) plus numerous 89 day training cruises.
