I was looking on ebay.  There are a couple that are good for the price there.

What I look at is estimate to get to driver quality.  And does it run and move.  Engine and trans can really add up. Same with sheet metal.  My time I consider free because I like to tinker with it.  But in the end, you gonna look at an 8 to 10 thousand dollar car if it's a really nice quality driver.  5 thousand really takes a big bite out of that.

Its about a 3.5 hour drive from Vancouver. We might be heading that way in June/ July if its still available I could have a look.

I don't know how good a body guy you are, or how much  you want to take on,
but from what I see in the pictures and the lack of lower side pictures.   That car screams
"Buyer Beware".

Exactly my thinking, Jay ! when I see all those bubbles and bondo coming off the rear quarters and lower gate area, that is a typical rust prone area to wagons and Rancheros. often this means the whole car looks like that. ask me how I know ... :002:
there is a twin layer structure in the lower gate area and even in my totaly sound So Cal Courier, there were some problems there.
but 5k still is quite a fair asking price, those first year Rancheros are sought after.

Ya Jay I agree. At first glance it looked real good, but that stuff peeking out from under the paint and lack of pic got me settled back.My Ranchero is probably in better shape.I have original paint on it and pretty much know what there. Thanks for the help guys.    Al

Sometimes it's better to stick with what you have especially since by now you know every nook and cranny on your own car.  That 5K might be better spent on patch panels , parts and material for your own car.   I have a huge folder with receipts for my 57 and I'm afraid to tally it up.  All I do is open it and stick more slips in it.
Picture yourself with two such folders.

I've sat down more then 50 times, and each time I do I keep coming up with this crazy, unbelievable, only an idiot would spend that much, total every time!!!! :BangHead:

Ya I have started that folder and have those crazy numbers I,ve heard in my head.I just try to justify it by how long I put it off and let every other family thing put it on the back burner.I have given my wife some big numbers on what its going to cost us,and she says go go go.The only thing on my ranchero that was hit is the driver side tail and tailgate and was repaired 35 or more years ago.My concern is the gap on that side is too much.I plan to take it to a shop in town where the owner told me he could take care of it.I think thats the worst body problem I have.My folder is not real thick yet so we will just watch it grow. Thanks for the advice guys always appreciated .  AL

Sprink, not exactly sure what you are looking for, but you're not far from Randy Conner. I'll bet he's got 75 or more 57's in various condition, you might give him a try, Mark

Thanks Mark I am not really looking ,but just got a bit exited when I first glanced at that car. I would like to have info on randy ....does he sell parts. Thanks Al

Frankenstein, I AM happy with my 4dr. But if I come across a 2dr for the right price, I may be buying.  But I am not looking. I found a guy about an hour north of me who is a Ford guy, has a private yard and has quite a bit with titles. ALL years.  I am gonna go there soon. He just got one from near Canada with nice interior seats.
