Does anyone know how to whiten up the lettering on the das bezels. Mine have tuned browish white over the years.

3 ways.1-Buy a new face plate from Carpenters.2-have Classic instruments re screen the art work.3-Have a very talented sign person re letter them.
#1 would be the cheapest route.

A new speedo lens w/shiny chrome looks great too....

take care with the driving range indicator lense ( if you have auto drive). (some?) repros have the wrong script style. the numbers look too modern, it's a shame.

Back to the op on whitening the letters...a weird thought....denture cleansers...I've got an old lense around somewhere. I'll try it and let you know how it works. LOL...I already have the denture cleaner.
I can do this, I can do this, I, well, maybe

Thanks for the response. What I a asking about is the lettering on the black strips above the headlight vent , wiper and lighter knobs.

Those letters have a light that shines through them . Paint may prevent light from shining through.

mbell

Correct. I need to find out what anyone has done to get them white.

Never did try that, and I don't have my old dash pieces anymore that MBell is talking about. I may still try the dental cleanser on the speedometer facing though....I'm talking about the foaming tablets. I can't believe I'm discussing denture stuff, but I use the ones for smoker's...overnight it removes any trace of smoking, or even worse, coffee. I would think it would help whiten things, and is gental (dental variation of gentle, lol)enough to not hurt the plastic.
Funny..on an episode of Bones they use about 168 boxes of dental cleaser tablets to clean an old skeleton.
