anyone have a pair of old y-block engine mounts they'd care to part with. only need one if they're not side specific. since most of the new one out there are reported to be junk (China and India made) and the prothane ones are a bit on the steep side thinking with the right chunk of plastic, a bit of steel and a few bolts it might just be fun to make a pair of my own.

If you don't get a response by the time I go up to Steve Pierce's place in Twentynine Palms, I'll get you a pair.

Good luck, I hope you can do it and share your experience with us. I replaced my mounts when I rebuilt the engine and I don't recall the brand but it was Chinese or Indian junk. I ran the car for about a week before putting the hood back on and the first time I hit a good size bump in the road I saw the engine shake like crazy  :005:. My first thought was I some how forgot to tighten one of the mounts but after checking everything was tight. What supplier has the prothane ones?

Edit: found their site but nothing as a replacement for a Y

your right nothing for y-blocks, guys on the HAMB are using the sbf ones for sbf swaps in 50s cars. years ago made a set of solid (alum) mounts and they worked but really rattled everything including teeth. making a set may not be time/cost effective but replacing offshore junk on a regular basis. coming to think that a used oem would be better than current offerings. not sure how poly urethanes are rated and what prothane and others are using in their mounts. maybe taking a chunk out of a bowling ball would work, next time i wander down to portland will swing by tap plastics and see what they have to say.

anyway are they identical or side specific? am going to guess identical.

need and welcome feedback on anything related to this.
