ok,   just a up date,  i changed my shocks from orig to the ones that will let me change tires now,  big difference,   and second,  the air valves,  i went to a truck supplier and they had all kinds of valves,  but if i went with steel valves size i needed i would have to rebalance the tires,  so the heck with it,  i'll just have to pull the hub cap each time,    so thanks for all the info everyone has given me,    jerry

Go ahead and bore us.   I always like to hear stories about the one that "got away".    I've made that same mistake many times and think about how the prices seemed so high back in the 50's.  There is no comparison to what they are today.  I seem to think that a new 57 cheap model custom only went for about $500.  Jay

ok,  i'll make a long story , short.    back in 59 when i got out of the svc,  i needed a car,  so my uncle and i went to a ford dealer,  on the used car lot there were 3 57's,  2 convs and a 2 door side by side,   the 2 door was $700 and the conv's were $1100 each,  ssince i didn't have much money i bought the 2 door,   big mistake,  but then maybe it  was for the best,  i could have got into alot of trouble with the convs if u know what i mean!!!!!!!!!!!!!,  so after many years between then and now i now have  my 57 ford conv,  but cost a few bucks more
