frame dillema

  Happy Memorial Day........Thanks for serving..............I have stripped the body from my 1958 custom 300 4-door............is this the same frame used for the 2-door? same as the 1957?...enjoy the day....racton

The book lists the same frame assembly for 57/58 body styles 70,73 .....B8A 5005-F

Same frame, but everything about the 58 front end is better.  The steering box is much better, the 58  upper control arm shafts are more modern style, better, ball joints, etc.  Good score..

   Does what  you just stated about the front end of the 58 being  better , also apply to the 59?

The '58 pivot shafts and bushings were carried over but for some reason the '59 upper control arms have a different shape, perhaps to improve access to the pivot shaft bolts. The part numbers are superceded by a '60 control arm number. The '59 frame has different part number.

Are the 58 balljoints interchangeable with the 57?  And or easier to find quality ones?

It should,  I know for certain that the 58 cross shaft and bushings are different, like the later Galaxies, and I started to put them on my 57, but I figured I would wait til later, as the stuff in mine is new, and it doesnt really NEED changed.
