Front turn signal improvements

Over here, cars since the 1950's have had orange front/rear turn signal lights, motorists don't understand the US style white front ones!  Keen to avoid a smash at an intersection I decided to improve the front turn signals and fitted a combined LED bulb, these shine white with the side-lights on but change to flashing orange when the turn signals are used (I've left the rear standard).  Hope you can view the video I posted on Facebook as I deleted the original.....  OK, certainly not original and probably no use to you guys in the US, but I think they're kinda neat!

I am able to see the video, and yes they are neat.  Where did you get the bulbs?  Thanks.
If I could roll back the years, back when I was young and limber, loose as ashes in the wind, had no irons in the fire.... wish I'd done things different, but wishin' don't make it so. ( Ian Tyson)

Gary, they are really bright orange, very nice trick. it is of utmost importance here in Europe to have amber/orange blinkers. will you please tell us your source for the LED bulbs?
I also use Fairlane 500 taillights with the orange blinker bulbs in the back up lights in the rear.
In my country, amber driving lights, white front turn signals and rear red turn signals are an absolute NO-GO by law. so all our US cars must be converted ( because as you stated, other drivers don't understand them).

I've kept the rear standard US, but as I've wired the trailer hitch for UK/European orange trailer turn signals I could easily wire into that to incorporate rear orange turn signals at a future date.

This is the link for the bulbs:

and these are the resistors that you take from the turn signal feed to earth/ground:

The other alternative is to use a dual filament amber bulb, but you will end up with amber side lights.

I see where Walmart is advertising that style bulb, but in red for the rear stop and turn signal lamps.

I have a picture of a 55 Bird that was converted for Europe. Amber domes screwed to the top of the fenders . Looks really bad' in a bad way.

I went to Walmart and checked out that style of bulb and ended up buying 2 of the white ones. They are super bright and cost $14.69 plus tax for 2 of them.  I am going to buy a couple more and replace the front ones with the same style.

I did the amber bulbs, from any parts store on my front parklamps.    The amber are the color people expect them to be on a modern car, so there is no confusion that they are turnsignals.

You cannot tell they are amber form outside the lens, so it doesn't alter the original look, but its safer and more modern when flashing.

Good point. I will convert to the amber ones for the front as you did. I don't think Henry will mind that I changed things a bit.

Hi Guys,

I was wondering after reading this thread if any of you have changed out the #57 dash lights to the LED lights. If so, how were the results. I'm wanting to change my dash lights to the LED Blue lights, though someone here may have changed theirs out.

Many Thanks,
Rick.
