Anyone running a one wire alternator? If so what kind, expected cost and how do you like it? What do you do for a amp/voltage meter?

I am using a GM alternator from a 85 pickup( I don't expect to run air ) made my own bracket , used a 43" belt whitch is 1" shorter than stock. the bracket and wiring was done the same way as   http://www.ranchwagon.com/tech/alt/alt.htm  . My total cost was about $60 with a core.
