hood release

Hood release CAble broke I need to know  location of hole under dash . Also do I need to remove anything to get to the hole. Getting old cause I cant find it.

Remove the left fresh air duct.  Look up through there and pop out (push) the rubber plug.  Snake up the hole to release the latch.

some say right you say left are you sure ? It is not fun to mess with. Thank you for the info.

If you look at KYBlueoval's Ranchero Ressurection thread, the last pic he posted on page 2, you'll see the hole you're trying to get to directly under the latch.

You don't say if your hood is now closed & latched. I hope it's open 'cause this method does not sound like fun.
Step #5, "Probe with the dowel until contact is made with the release latch".
That sounds to me more like probe & probe & probe & probe & ....
I have to wonder how you get a long straight stick like shown in the pic around the seam in the firewall to contact the latch lever. On mine there's also a couple thick wire looms running right along that seam. Maybe the angle to reach it from below is just right.
