RIP Mr. Jones.

Parnelli won his first NASCAR race in a white 57 at Bremerton Washington.

Ten years ago I drove down to Seattle to meet Parnelli Jones, great guy, a racing hero of mine.  It was like Christmas when he signed the dash of my 57.  His handlers told me he was old and tired and could not come out of the VIP tent to sign the car, so I drove it up to the back of the tent and he heard the rumble, he said "I remember driving one of those" and left the tent to sit in the car and autograph it.  A day I will not forget.

At one time every kid in Canada and the U.S. wanted to BE Parnelli Jones!

RIP PJ. I have great memories of watching him drive the Bill Stoppe Mercury's at Riverside.

He also said he did not like the 57 compared to the 56, so when the sponsor (Vel) did not attend the race, he would load the 56 and race it.

  Seeing as I had a few Broncos in my lifetime Parnelli was easily my favourite off-road racer. Who could forget the Big Oly!
