Hi all,

I know it?s been a long time since I started my disk brake conversion and power steering update but I have a fresh update for you with pictures.  I will post more on the details later this week.  I have been down for about 8 months due to family health issues.

In summary the brake system from Dick at Drop?n Stop works perfectly. (Granada disks with a booster) The GearHeads power steering worked perfectly too.  The customer service from both of the parties was accommodating, timely and informative.

I will say that I had an opportunity to drive one of Rick?s racks on one of my friends 57?s down in Waxahachie, TX, in addition to the Gearheads solutions I installed. I found both very good and reliable.  I will say that when I called Frank at Gearheads I was able to get right though and get some small questions I had answered.  I know Rick with Wurthit Designs has had issues with his wife?s health and l hop the best for him and his wife.  After talking to my friend, both he and I and feel he has not been as attentive to customers? needs as a vendor should.  At the end of the day I am satisfied with the conversion and would indorse the Gearheads steering box conversion.  As an FYI, I understand that new power steering boxes are being made by a firm in Charlotte, NC that is even a better fit than Gearheads product.

I have driven my 57 Ranchero about 500 miles now without one problem with the steering box and Dick?s brake conversion. I have to tell you?I love it.

I will post more on the details later this week or next.

God bless Roger, he and I had many off-line conversations.

If it won't fit, force it.
If it breaks, it needed replacing anyway.

Do you know what company?

Cool57,

I saw it in some of my internet surfing that I was doing. The link below is for our scab friends and is almost identical to what I saw.  See the bottom of the linked page.

I think it is the same steering box, I just can't remember where I saw it.

It is totally new, not rebuilt unit.  If I come across the Ford unit  I will post it.

Cool57,

I saw the link you referenced, but I think I saw it somewhere else. The link I read, "somewhere" gave more information on it as being newly made, not a rebuild.  The ABS unit looks like the one I saw on another sight.  I guess if someone is interested they could call and find out.

I am very happy with the installation I just put in. The car handles like a dream.

I will post more pictures and notes about what I did in the next week or so.

Glad to hear it worked out. A friend has two or three of Gearhead's boxes in his various cars. Aside from some minor fitment problems he's happy with them.

All,

I am posting my brake update with pictures over in the Brake Swap section of the forum.

Sometime next week I will post the steering upgrade under the steering and suspension section.

Thanks,
