removed spacer behind fan blade... problems with this??

took the spacer behind the fan blade off when I put a new radiator in cause it was just too close... so now my fan blade is that much farther (approx 3 inches) away from the radiator... anybody else done this?  has it caused an overheating problem??  I only have some around town easy miles on the car since rebuild...

anybody??

Mark,you can buy different size spacers at almost any aftermarket auto parts stores. sounds as if you had a 3" spacer on there,they make them in 2 1/2" , 2", 1 1/2", 1", & 1/2" etc. The closer it is the better it will cool

Fan should be 3/4" to 1" away from the radiator. If you have a shroud, then the fan blades should sit halfway in the opening of the shroud.
