I was assembling my dash today, ford calls this light switch a multiple curcuit breaker, there is a fuse on the back-I think it was 7 amp. Mark

Seems like the fuse on the back of the sw is domelight only. That sw and the connections are important
to all the lights.
I hate blocksanding!

Save yourself some grief and go out and buy one of those full color laminated wiring diagrams for 1957 Fords, they're on EBay motors all the time and are damned handy.  There is no fuse box on 57 Fords according to the wiring diagram, Ford made extensive use of fusible links, that are designed to fail in the event of a short. If your lights still don't work after you replace the light switch fuse, start looking for bad ground connections.  You can't have too many grounds.
I am buying a Ron Francis kit for my 57 500 and will rewire the entire car before summer.
Let me know if I can be of help.

Bubba: Let us know how the Ron Francis installation goes. Because of options they now have, that correspond to my build perfectly, they are the company I had deceided on when the time comes. Just curious..are you doing the 24-7 model with pull out fuse panel?
I can do this, I can do this, I, well, maybe

Rich:
Yes, that's exactly the panel I plan on using.
I like the idea of the drop down panel for ease of access.
I've used his panels before and have been very happy with the results.
I will take step by step photo shots and keep the crew posted.
BTW that's incredible work you're doing on the interior.

Bubba,
I'll be eagerly waiting for those installation postings!  I would like to rewire my ford as well but have little idea how to do it.
Thanks

In regards to 57 light switches, I was testing out my dash prior to installing it in the car, and my switch wouldn't turn on the dash light bulbs. Further testing verified the switch was bad. I had another dash, ohm tested that switch, same result N/G. My car is at my Buds shop, so at home I test another switch I have-also NFG. Now its either Dearborn classics, or fix it. So I took the ceramic rotor and spring out, nothing broken. I shined up the brass contacts, cleaned everything up, now it works. Ohm test runs up and down just like it should.Hope this helps someone from dropping 100$ for a new switch.   Mark
